I love how the lyric "No comfort but song" is here connected with Frodo keeping the Ring. In the book he feels it was a failure on his part, but the initiates of the Goddess see everything has a good side in the end (Stairway To Heaven). Tolkien's manuscript actually describes Frodo's thoughts at Mount Doom as wanting to make "great poems and songs," "and all the earth should blossom" as a result. This is exactly what the Dark Lord was on about, remember how the book describes him as being a depressed spirit affecting everyone? Well, he hears Frodo's laughter and thinks, who IS that there?... Which starts to change the mood overall. So Frodo really is not thinking of himself there, except in the part where he wants to "rule" over his friends, who rule the world as should be... that's the point of the Fellowship in the first place, promoting this ideal of friendship and trust between peoples. The reason Frodo sees himself as ruling over that is because of where such friendship actually originates - something about his essence, his Light within, which is akin to the Dark Lord?
